The Art of Selling Confidently

Hey y'all,

Let’s talk about something that I really think needs to be talked about more.

Selling.

More specifically, selling digital products.

I often see people hating digital products. I think people that don’t work on the internet like to judge digital products.

I see these people in the comments or on social media saying snarky things like...

“Oh, this person is just selling some course" or “THAT much for a template?”

This creates limiting beliefs for people who want to create their own products.

They think this is the way the world must feel.

I think this is a pretty ridiculous notion… because if you’re making money and you aren’t selling your product —You’re selling someone else’s.

Every creator is selling SOMETHING. Even if it's *just* attention.

People who work at companies also often sell things (directly or indirectly) that they don’t care about, but it's still easy to judge others on the internet selling things they do care about.

It can lead the rest of us to believe that there is something WRONG with making money on these types of products or that "surely they wouldn't buy this from me." This mindset that if your product isn't the ultimate solution for everyone, you shouldn't bother selling it all.

Cue imposter syndrome...

But who cares?

Those aren't the people you're selling too.

I don't love every product I see peddled on Instagram and I often think some are overpriced, but it doesn't matter because I'm probably not their target audience.

You have one goal when you sell something: Make the customer happy.

What they spend has to be equal to or less than the perceived value of what they paid for. If it's not, offer a return to make them happy again.

That’s it. If you can do those two things:

  1. Aim to make your customer happy.
  2. Provide a refund if you don't.

Then you NEVER have to lose a night of sleep over your work and what you’re selling.

I give you permission and affirmation that if you have an idea for a digital product, that it matters, that it’s a real business, that it counts.

Ignore the trolls and the nay-sayers. They're always there but thankfully they are almost always the very tiny majority.

Find something you want to create, create it, and sell it.

It's simple, but it's not easy. If it was, everyone would be rich.

My advice: Start small.

A template, a guide, a process, a community, or an ebook, which was the first product that launched the success of Avocadu, a successful health blog that Create and Go used to own.

A great platform can go a LONG way towards helping you launch your first product, and that's exactly what this week's sponsor is for:

Sell Out for What You Create 🌟

Find a problem you feel good about solving and create a solution that you can sell.

Then tell people about it. Boast about it. You go ahead and toot your own horn.

That's the only way to get people's attention because if you don't believe in it, they won't either.

When you're helping others, you don't have to feel weird about making a profit on it. That's literally what every business in the world does. Being a creator is no different, except that it can be scalable in a different way.

That’s the power of a digital product.

It’s not just about the money (although that’s nice). It’s about scaling your impact, reaching more people, and creating something valuable that can change lives.

Don't chase perfection because your product(s) will be an every-changing thing. We're working on like our 5th iteration of our course offering right now. Always improving with the changing needs of our audience.

As long as you put your audience first, you can't go wrong.

Create, sell, learn, innovate, repeat.

Now, you might be thinking, “But Noah, I don’t have a product idea!”

Don’t worry, I told you I had you covered.

AI Promp for Generating Product Ideas 💡

Here’s a quick AI prompt from our course that you can use with ChatGPT or Claude to give you some ideas:

“Act as an online business consultant. Imagine that you have a business on (insert your businesses goal here). Your goal is focused on creating the most helpful, engaging, experience-led brand that makes six figures a month with diversified monetization methods. Your target market is (insert your target market) who are trying to (insert there biggest struggles and their dream outcome). You want to create a (insert any digital product or leave it vague) for this audience.
Give me 10 ideas for what the product could be."

If you don’t know the answer to these things, use AI to help you figure it out. That's what it's there for. You can ask things like:

  • Can you help me figure out the mission or goal of my business?
  • Can you help me figure out my target market?
  • Can you help me figure out my avatar’s biggest struggles?
  • Can you help me figure out my avatar’s dream outcome?

Play around with it until you find something you like and then start working on it.

Talk about working on it, build in public, let people give feedback on it, and then keep working on it.

Remember, your first product doesn’t have to be perfect. The customer just needs to be happy.

So, I challenge you: Start brainstorming a real product you can create.

What unique knowledge do you have? What problems can you solve? How can you provide value?

Remember, every creator’s journey is different. Whether you’re launching a product, building a community, or still figuring things out, you’re on the right path.

Keep going, and don’t be afraid to take that next big step.

Quote of the Week

From Dr. Wayne Dyer in his book "The Power of intention"

"In order to be good at selling, you have to fall in love with what you do, and then sell that love."

Let’s talk about that moment in the creator's journey that feels... kinda embarrassing. That “WTF am I doing with my content” stage. You know — the part where you’re writing blog posts, staying busy, publishing stuff, maybe even getting some traffic, but deep down it feels like you’re aimlessly throwing content at the wall and praying something sticks. Two creators in our group said it perfectly: “I started making content but I feel like I have no sense of direction in the monetization of my...

Hey there! Over the last couple of weeks, I've been sharing a couple of discoveries of unexpected benefits of the new product that I'm working on for our audience, CreatorOS. I've talked about... Creating solutions (rather than products), how a lack of awareness does NOT mean a lack of commitment, and how to rethink about the work that you cannot see (and therefore the progress you are making). Today, I want to share my third and final discovery with you! Before I share that discovery, here...
